Jax Shoot Club…

September 10, 2009 | Filed Under Biz, Photographers, love, wedding | 4 Comments

The sky was dark and the thunder was making it’s presence known. Not a good sign when I was about to be outside with my camera in a few hours. Luckily the clouds parted and it turned out to be a gorgeous night for the first ever Jax Shoot Club meet-up.

I have to thank the two uber talented photographers, Kara Pennington Photography & La Dolce Vita Studios, who had the great idea to start up a shoot club here in Jacksonville. They planned everything from the location & models right down to the bridal bouquets to complete the shot. There were a lot of local photographers (& some a little far from home as well) to mingle with, we had several fabulous models to shoot and equally fabulous vendors! “Team Awesome” as they affectionately referred to themselves, did an amazing job of organizing this super fun event and I very much look forward to the next one!

Before you look at the shots I got that night, take a peek at the generous vendors that contributed to our get together…

• Makeup and Hair was provided by Faythe Mesic: http://www.faythemesic.com/

•Bridal Bouquets were provided by Anything with Plants & Flowers: http://www.anythingwithplants.com

•Lauren’s Dress and bridal attire was provided by Solutions Bridal of Gainesville: http://www.solutionsbridal.com/
Her dress was by designer Alvina Valenta (style #9700) and her veil was by Lori London (style #VM95)

A big shout out to our models for the night as well seeing as we wouldn’t have had anyone to photograph without them! :)
Julianne and Greg (engagement couple)
Kelly & Chris (bride and groom)
Lauren (solo bride)

Lauren, our mock bride, was the first model my group shot so I have the most images of her. She was stunning and so working it for the camera! She was such a trooper!

techie talk : these two images were shot with external flash on-camera in manual mode. I’m still trying to figure out this whole flash thingy so I had fun playing and trying to get the output to look the way I wanted.

After the sky threatened our shootout with rain, mother nature ended up playing nice and giving us one wicked awesome sunset. It made for a gorgeous silhouette of our married couple, Kelly & Chris. Kelly, btw, was a real trooper as well. It’s hard work to stand & model for a million photographers while wilting in the FL heat in a heavy bridal gown, but she did a great job!

techie talk again : this one was shot with some fill flash as well

First day of school…

September 8, 2009 | Filed Under Biz | 2 Comments

Yeah, yeah, I know their actual first day wasn’t today, but it was some kids’ first day so I figured it was fitting since I’m late posting and all. So, for the first day of school I decided I was going to go all June Cleaver, who I definitely am not, as those closest to me can attest to. I was up “before” the kids and made them a hot breakfast! Caitlin’s breakfast request was pigs in a blanket….easy enough! Hayden wanted pop tarts…he’s such a little stinker. Our morning went smooth like buttah and I wasn’t even rushed getting pictures. Got lots of my little model Caitlin, but Hayden did not cooperate so well. Soooo, when you see like a million of Caitlin and 3 of Hayden it is not because I didn’t try!

Without further adieu, here is my big 1st & 3rd grader!

Goodbye Summer…

September 3, 2009 | Filed Under Personal | 1 Comment

The end of summer is bitter sweet. I’m glad it’s over because we all needed a little space and more structure, but at the same time we’re forced back into the school routine of early mornings, homework & strict bedtimes. We didn’t have a particularly eventful summer, but it was a break from the routine so I guess that’ll have to do!

My girlie….loves to read, is passionate about animals & the environment, a real jokester at times, loves church & God, heart-on-her-sleeve kind of girl with a beautiful soul…

Baby boy…likes to be good at everything he does, strong willed but defeated easily, quick to be a cuddle bug if you catch him in the mood, loves anything with wheels, likes to play with the big boys, major chocoholic, love-you-forever momma’s boy…

Stay tuned for some first day of school shots of my big 1st & 3rd graders!
