Dress Up and Project-365…

Happy New Year!!! I hope you all had a safe & fun New Years. Sadly I was not awake at the stroke of midnight. My hubby & I were kid free, but ended up cutting our night out short due to the fact that he wasn’t feeling well. We came home, started a movie and both fell asleep within 30 min. LOL. We got to celebrate the next day with family and hubby was feeling a bunch better so we ended the new years celebration on a good note.
I wanted to explain a little about a new project I’m starting. It’s completely for me, but I’m making a public commitment in hopes that I’ll stick with it. It’s called Project 365. The goal is to record your daily life throughout the whole year with one picture a day. Now, this is not to say that I will blog everyday, but hopefully I’ll be able to blog every couple of days with the past days photos.
Here is today’s 365-2. Caitlin got make-up from her Great Granny and today was the day to get all made up apparently. Complete with a fashion show at the end. LOL. Gotta love it! She actually did pretty good. She did her make-up, hair, clothes & jewelry.

Since I started a day late, I’m including a pic taken yesterday. It wasn’t taken by me, but it documents where we were. Thanks Angela for taking this for us. ![]()

My day started like all my other weekdays…
I went to bed too late, then I’m tired & cranky in the morning waiting until the last minute before I force myself out of my warm cozy bed. In my semi state of consciousness I can hear the ramblings of my 8yr old & 5yr old chatting back & forth (this morning one was singing the ABC’s over & over & over again). They’re so darn chipper in the morning! They definitely didn’t get that from ME! I call an occasional reminder to them to keep eating instead of being so chatty. Can’t blame the chattiness on them too much, they get it honest.
When the time comes I finally drag my butt into the kitchen so I can get them upstairs to get dressed, or more often pull clothes out of the dryer or off my dresser for them to get dressed. While they’re supposed to be doing that I wash my face & try to wake up, giving an occasional jealous glance to the still sleeping hubby sawing logs. Caitlin normally gets dressed and brushes teeth without much of a delay, but Hayden on the other hand still gets easily distracted. He’ll be upstairs “getting dressed” for 15 minutes and when he finally trots downstairs he’ll have jeans on and no shirt or shoes. You think, how the heck have you been up there for 15 min and you only have your stinkin’ jeans on! We eventually all get dressed and head out the door without a minute to spare.
Ah, the joy of school mornings. Torture during the week, but I still wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. If I can sit back & take in all that is happening, I can smile at how cute he is singing the ABC’s & bouncing around in the morning…I can be proud that my girlie is such a sweet big sister that puts up with most of his craziness and is very helpful by packing her own lunch. However, I don’t normally have that kind of insight during the hurry-up-we-are-running-late time. Normally I’m annoyed & stressed out and then decide that I need to treat myself to a Starbucks because, well, I deserve it! At least that’s what I tell myself.
Without further ado, here is my beloved, de-stresser, because-I-deserve-it, Grande Iced Caramel Pumpkin Spice latte w/no whip cream and a straw twice the size of the cup.

Just me…

Oy. What a week. The kiddos were supposed to go to their Nana’s last weekend and then start swim lessons this week. They apparently had other plans. Last Friday, I noticed some bumps on my youngest and the doctor said they sounded like chicken pox. Lovely! He’s had not one, but as of a couple weeks ago, TWO vaccines for these stinkin’ things. Then, low & behold, I check my oldest and she’s got dots on her too! Btw, she has also had the vaccine. Errrrrr. Good news is that it was not a bad case for either of them. They got maybe a total of 25 each and they didn’t itch at all. They are already mending and according to the doctors office, are no longer contagious. Woo-hoo! Bad news? I’ve never had the chicken pox. Yep, seriously. Doctor told me when I had my first baby that I should get a vaccine, but did I listen? NOOOOO, of course not. I hate needles and I had had enough of them when I was prego so I ignored the doc. And…now I’m sweating bullets hoping that I won’t get them. I keep thinking I have a spot, but then second guess myself. I do have a couple of spots, but I’m still unsure if that’s what it is. They are in hard to see places.

Anyhoo…I’m always in awe of these photographers that can take such awesome, creative self portraits. I hate being in front of the camera so I’m definitely more comfortable with taking my own portrait. However, it is DANG hard to get it in focus & composed. I was in the kitchen the other night and noticed my reflection so I grabbed my camera. Here’s my feeble attempt. Don’t laugh.

Quit Monkey-ing Around…

While helping a fellow photographer this past weekend I ran into a furry little critter. What could I possibly run in to in the city? Why a Capuchin Monkey of course!
This little guy came in with his human family to get a family portrait taken. The family is from Texas, but they travel with the dad’s job. Apparently you don’t need a permit to have a monkey for a pet in TX! Crazy! He was the cutest little thing though. Tiny furry guy, wearing a teeny tiny diaper and a little baby tee. He was so soft & furry!! A once in a lifetime thing I’m sure. Who else can say they were so up close & personal with a baby Capuchin monkey? ![]()
