Is your child America’s Cutest Kid?

We all say we have the cutest children, but here’s a chance to actually have bragging rights!

Cherry Street Photography is excited to be participating in the National Charity Model Search to select “America’s Cutest Kid” and to raise funds for charity!

We’re looking for cute children ages 18 months to 14 years old to model for a portrait to be entered into the contest.

Models Search Special:
$25 entrance fee (per child), which includes a 30 minute model session on-location and one image submitted to the national gallery. A special price list that includes print packages & comp cards are available for these sessions.

Finalists will be determined by online votes. Anyone may vote. Each vote is $1, and all proceeds from votes benefit the non-profit Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. If you are not familiar with NILMDTS, please visit their website and browse around. It is an amazing organization and one that more parents should know about.

Grand prize national winner will be determined from the 50 city finalists. Winners selected by photography and modeling industry experts.

If your child is selected the national winner, you’ll receive many prizes, including a $5,000 US Savings Bond and a Canon PowerShot G10 digital camera.

If you’re interested in entering your child(ren), please call the studio at 904.422.4011 or email katie@cherrystphoto.com or simply click on the “email me” link at the top of the blog. Limited dates are available. So don’t delay…make your appointment today!!!

Dress Up and Project-365…

January 2, 2009 | Filed Under Mindless Chatter, Personal | 1 Comment

Happy New Year!!! I hope you all had a safe & fun New Years. Sadly I was not awake at the stroke of midnight. My hubby & I were kid free, but ended up cutting our night out short due to the fact that he wasn’t feeling well. We came home, started a movie and both fell asleep within 30 min. LOL. We got to celebrate the next day with family and hubby was feeling a bunch better so we ended the new years celebration on a good note.

I wanted to explain a little about a new project I’m starting. It’s completely for me, but I’m making a public commitment in hopes that I’ll stick with it. It’s called Project 365. The goal is to record your daily life throughout the whole year with one picture a day. Now, this is not to say that I will blog everyday, but hopefully I’ll be able to blog every couple of days with the past days photos.

Here is today’s 365-2. Caitlin got make-up from her Great Granny and today was the day to get all made up apparently. Complete with a fashion show at the end. LOL. Gotta love it! She actually did pretty good. She did her make-up, hair, clothes & jewelry.

Since I started a day late, I’m including a pic taken yesterday. It wasn’t taken by me, but it documents where we were. Thanks Angela for taking this for us. :)

Merry Christmas!

I know, I know, I’ve been a little absent from the blog. Many apologies!!! However, I come back bearing pictures to share! I recently paid a visit to this little cutie, who was in town for her auntie & uncle’s wedding. I think she knew we were all up to something so she was a tad bit unwilling in the beginning, but she eventually warmed up to me. I must say that Miss K is one of the most fashionable little 3 monthers I’ve seen. She had some kickin’ outfits!

Thanks to the “L” family. I hope you had a safe trip home! Here’s your sneak peek… :)

Firstly, how unfair is it that a mom with a 3 month old looks THIS gorgeous?!

Little missy had the best blue eyes…

I told you she was fashionable…

Product Spotlight | Cherry Street Photography

October 6, 2008 | Filed Under Biz | 2 Comments

Just to give you a better idea of the products offered here at Cherry Street Photography, I am going to do a “Product Spotlight” post whenever I get new samples in or have something fun to show off.

First up is…

3/4″ STANDOUT MOUNT

Having your print mounted with the standout mount is a very modern way of displaying your photos. It comes mounted on a lightweight board with black textured trim and ready to hang. I personally love this mount! Since I’m terrible at explaining I’ll just get to the photo’s and let them do the talking.

The front…

The sides & corner…

Finally, the back…

say ‘ello to my leetle friend…

Lookie who I found tucked under a towel on the patio. I went outside to take the previous Starbucks cup pics and found this little guy. He was scared as all get out, but he sat & posed nicely for a few before he went through one of the holes on the table and hid. :)

morning routine | cherry street photography

September 19, 2008 | Filed Under Mindless Chatter, Personal | 2 Comments

My day started like all my other weekdays…

I went to bed too late, then I’m tired & cranky in the morning waiting until the last minute before I force myself out of my warm cozy bed. In my semi state of consciousness I can hear the ramblings of my 8yr old & 5yr old chatting back & forth (this morning one was singing the ABC’s over & over & over again). They’re so darn chipper in the morning! They definitely didn’t get that from ME! I call an occasional reminder to them to keep eating instead of being so chatty. Can’t blame the chattiness on them too much, they get it honest.

When the time comes I finally drag my butt into the kitchen so I can get them upstairs to get dressed, or more often pull clothes out of the dryer or off my dresser for them to get dressed. While they’re supposed to be doing that I wash my face & try to wake up, giving an occasional jealous glance to the still sleeping hubby sawing logs. Caitlin normally gets dressed and brushes teeth without much of a delay, but Hayden on the other hand still gets easily distracted. He’ll be upstairs “getting dressed” for 15 minutes and when he finally trots downstairs he’ll have jeans on and no shirt or shoes. You think, how the heck have you been up there for 15 min and you only have your stinkin’ jeans on! We eventually all get dressed and head out the door without a minute to spare.

Ah, the joy of school mornings. Torture during the week, but I still wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. If I can sit back & take in all that is happening, I can smile at how cute he is singing the ABC’s & bouncing around in the morning…I can be proud that my girlie is such a sweet big sister that puts up with most of his craziness and is very helpful by packing her own lunch. However, I don’t normally have that kind of insight during the hurry-up-we-are-running-late time. Normally I’m annoyed & stressed out and then decide that I need to treat myself to a Starbucks because, well, I deserve it! At least that’s what I tell myself. ;)

Without further ado, here is my beloved, de-stresser, because-I-deserve-it, Grande Iced Caramel Pumpkin Spice latte w/no whip cream and a straw twice the size of the cup.

I’ve been tagged before, but I figured I’d play along and keep the game going.

Miss Stacy tagged me this time. :)

I’m supposed to name 6 Unspectacular quirks about myself.

1. I have an obsessive/compulsive need to “clean” the table when we go out to eat. I wipe all the crumbs & water spots with my napkin and stack the finished plates & trash together throughout the meal. The crazy part is that I only do that when we go out. It doesn’t bother me at home. LOL

2. I frequently talk to inanimate objects. Telling them to behave, move out of my way, how their day was, etc. I never said I was normal. :P

3. I’m somewhat of a perfectionist and if I can’t do it “right”, I just don’t do it. Hence, a lot of things don’t get done around here much to my husbands dismay.

4. According to my dh, I don’t clean, I straighten.

5. I have to fold the laundry straight from the dryer. If I don’t get it as soon as they finish then I’ll just heat up the clothes again to get the wrinkles out. I hate folding wrinkly clothes and I hate ironing even more!

6. I get motion sickness something awful. I have to sit at least in the middle of the movie theatre and sometimes I even have to close my eyes during the movie if there’s too much action. It’s a total buzzkill.

RULES:

1. Link the person who tagged you
2. Mention the rules on your blog
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
4. Tag 6 following bloggers by linking them & leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they have been tagged. (coming soon)

And since a post without a picture is just cruel, here’s a details shot from my girlie’s birthday party this past weekend.

Free to Succeed…

September 13, 2008 | Filed Under Personal, Photographers | Leave a Comment

When I heard THE David Jay was going on tour and he was coming to Orlando, I knew I had to get a ticket. DJ is an amazing wedding photographer out in California. I heard him speak at a photography convention this past January and he was very inspiring. So, I got together with some other local photographers and we carpooled down to Orlando for the seminar. Unfortunately we all had kiddos that had to get to school in the morning so we had to drive back home that night. We left Jax around 3pm (amazingly didn’t hit much traffic in the Orlando area thank goodness) and I arrived back home a little after 2am. I was exhausted the next day! It was well worth it though. Okay, okay, so DJ is somewhat of a cutie. But that’s not why it was worth it (not the whole reason why anyway ;)). He really does have some great information to share. He’s so sincere and kind hearted that you just want to bottle him up and carry him in your pocket. I came away refreshed, inspired and armed with some great ideas to spice up the business.

Here’s a shot of us with DJ (that’s me in the green in case you’re wondering) :)
